Pregnant dogs can be aborted using a product called ALIZIN. Whilst it is registered for use in dogs as far enceinte as 45 days post mating, it is recommended to use this product prior to day 35 post mating.

How do you give a dog Alizin?

0.33 ml Alizin®/kg/day (10 mg aglepristone/kg/day). Give 2 consecutive doses 24 hours apart by aseptic subcutaneous injection. DO NOT UNDERDOSE, DO NOT DELAY SECOND INJECTION.

Is there a pill to give a dog to abort puppies?

Mifepristone (RU486): This well-known medicine acts as a progesterone antagonist. Small clinical trials have demonstrated that his medicine is very effective in terminating canine pregnancy after 25-30 days of gestation, and without apparent adverse effects.

Is Alizin effective for dogs?

As Alizin® is most efficacious (>99%) before Day 22 after mating, it is unfortunately not possible to confirm pregnancy diagnosis if using Alizin® in this period (as confirmation of pregnancy is most accurately determined by an abdominal ultrasound carried out at 28 days of gestation*).
